Autumn Favourites Every Bookworm Will Love

It’s autumn already! I love this time of year. There’s crunchy leaves on the ground, sunshine and cool breezes, woolly layers and spiced drinks everywhere! If you’re feeling sad about the darker evenings and colder weather, don’t be! As well as providing the ideal excuse to stay in and read, autumn gives you the perfect opportunity to stock up with my autumn favourites!

My autumn favourites

I mean, is it even possible to do an autumn favourites post and not include cardigans?! They’re great for layering up and down, and a fun and cosy way to switch up your outfit. I’ve been obsessed with mustard and dusky pink shades recently, even though I’ve literally never worn them in my adult life before! The cardigan in the middle is my new favourite though 🙂

Autumn favourites cardigan selection: cable knit cardigans in wine, mustard and grey shades from Boohoo, New Look and Asos. Prices are £22, £24.99 and £30

Warming teas

There’s nothing like snuggling up with a warm drink on a cool, dark evening!

My autumn favourites are:

Save: Twinings Bollywood Chai Latte, £2.79, for warming spices

Spend: Tea Pigs Lemon and Ginger, £4.49, perfect for heading off colds!

Splurge: The Exotic Teapot Flowering Jasmine Tea, £8.95, so pretty to look at and full of antioxidants to boost your immune system!

Thermal mugs

Why should these teas be limited to in the house only?! Grab yourself a beautiful travel mug and keep warm on the go!

Travel mugs from Asos and Amazon, with Matilda, Alice in Wonderland themes and a motivational message

Cosy candles

I mean, this goes without saying, am I right?! Cosy blanket + scented candle + good book = bliss! Here’s some of my autumn favourites!

Save: Sanctuary Signature Scent Luxury Candle £6.50

Spend: Zoella Midnight Wonder Fragranced Candle £10

Splurge: Yankee Candle Witch’s Brew £19.99

Warm pyjamas

Needless to say, if the weather’s gonna keep us indoors, we need some cosy pyjamas to rock while we’re at it! Here’s some super cute ones!

A round up of autumn favourite pyjamas including Loungeable Llama Pyjamas £20 from ASOS, Popcorn pyjamas £20 from ASOS and Chelsea Peers Dogs in Raincoats Pyjamas from ASOS, £30

Autumn skin care

With the wind picking up and the heating drying out our skin, it’s important to pack back in that moisture and keep our skin feeling soft and healthy! Here’s my faves for autumn.

Save: O’Keefes Working Hands Hand Lotion – £5.28 – it’s not glamourous, but it sure keeps your hands soft and moisturised, and stops dry skin in its tracks!

Spend: Korea Skin Care Facial Sheet Masks 16 pack – £11.92 – perfect excuse for lying down for half an hour with a book! 😉 Plus, Korean skin care products are always amazing – maybe I’ll do a post on my faves! Would you be interested? 🙂

Splurge: The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask – £25 – little bit pricey, but full of natural ingredients and hyaluronic acid which is a godsend for when the central heating and the wind dries out your face!

Well, DUH!

I always find that this weather makes me want to read thrillers, or books set really far away so it feels like I’m travelling when I’m actually stuck indoors!

I’m currently running the #AutumnisforAsia challenge with @theopenbookshelf and @theannotatedbookshelf, which aims to expand literary horizons and push people out of their comfort zones with their reading choices! I think it’s really easy to stick in one niche without realising it, so I’ve been exploring Asia via literature since about August now, and I’m really enjoying it! I’d love you to join in – check out how it works on my Instagram story collection 🙂

Some of my favourites so far have been Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata, The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa, The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly by Sun-Mi Kwang, and two others which I’ve not finished but am loving – I Have the Right to Destroy Myself by Young-Ha Kim, and Geisha of Gion by Mineko Iwasaki. If you’d like to get involved but not sure where to start, check out some suggestions on my Instagram story collection for this challenge, or shoot me a message on there 🙂

Convenience Store Woman sounds SOOOOO good, I can’t wait to pick it up! I’ve actually just finished reading An Artist Of The Floating World by Kazuo Ishiguro, and I enjoyed it WAY more than I thought I would – it totally fits your Autumn is for Asia theme, so if you haven’t read it already, it’d be a good one to try 😉 x

Definitely check it out, Sheree! It’s a really strange and intriguing book! Ooh, I haven’t tried any Kazuo Ishiguro, but heard amazing things about Remains of the Day by him! It didn’t really sound like my cup of tea though, so maybe I’ll try An Artist of the Floating World instead – thanks for the suggestion! 🙂

Absolutely loved this post, I have been enjoying the idea of wanting to read more too. I used to read a lot as a kid and I love supernatural and fantasy stories, any you recommend?

Aww thanks Leighanne! Ooh nice! For fantasy to ease you back in, I’d recommend Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor or A Darker Shade of Magic by V E Schwab! 😘
